The capture and analysis of data has never been a reality in tennis, but it may be the case in padel. Head, in collaboration with the company Aiball, is behind a comprehensive analysis system for a game, thanks to cameras installed on the court. Analysis includes the variety of shots from each player: lobs, backhands, volleys, etc. Tracking of players’ positions on the court and their court coverage against opponents’ strikes, both individually and collectively. Identification of the number of strikes from each player, analysis of power and direction, as well as ball placement in spaces poorly covered by the opposing team. Automatic generation of video summaries of matches and improvement recommendations based on each player’s strengths and weaknesses. Obviously, AI is involved in processing and delivering this wealth of data, but it’s highly probable that this technology can help us progress in the future.

For now, this system will only be available in certain Spanish clubs.
